2021届的同学们，家人们，朋友们，老师们，大家好！
我是胡宜，一位来自人文学院的毕业生。今天，我们相聚在这里，一起庆祝人生中一个最为重要的日子。为了和我们一起分享这个特别的时刻，我们的家长们经历了远途飞行或是几小时的长途火车后，来到了这里。现在，我的爸爸妈妈正坐在那里看着他们的女儿作毕业演讲，并说着他们听不懂的语言。我再次感到十分荣幸和感激，能有这个机会和大家分享我的体会。
在过去的四年中，这所年轻的、富有朝气的大学发生了很多变化。除了公共教学楼，现在我们有了商学院大楼，综合球馆和葛和凯楼，最令人激动的是茶百道奶茶店开张了。我们再也不用订外卖，在炎炎夏日走远路去拿了。老实说，学习中总会有令人闹心的时候，我们特别需要一点甜，难道不是吗？
温州肯恩大学在不断进步，我们也在学术表现和专业能力上不断进取。富有才气的，来自人文学院的同学们，你们在哪里？请举起你们的手！睿智的，来自商务与公共管理学院未来的百万富翁们；富有创造力的，来自建筑与设计学院的艺术家们；还有来自理工学院的，一直在编程或钻研数学的朋友们。
在温州肯恩大学的四年，我也成长了许多。有一件事情值得我牢记于心，那就是，拥有勇气和包容心。
当我还是大一学生，Dr. Nikita Nankov不止一次地问我，你决定好了你未来的发展方向了吗？文学、语言学、翻译还是其它领域？在那时，我完全不清楚，想着还太早做任何决定。然而，他告诉我，“年轻时，勇敢去尝试，不要害怕犯错误。”因此，当我还在想着要不要去做翻译时，我就担任了一名口译志愿者并参加了口译比赛；我也梦想着今后能在一个国际组织工作，于是我参观了纽约联合国总部并报名参加实习。勇气消除了我的不确定性。年轻是我们最大的财富，我们需要勇敢地探索任何吸引我们的路径。不断尝试和犯错会让我们找到一个清晰的目标，并为之付诸努力。
温州肯恩大学也教会我包容的重要性。当我还在美国肯恩大学交换的时候，在跨文化交流课上，一位美国同学问我，“为什么你们温肯交换生总是和温肯交换生一起玩呢？”这个问题引人深思。和来自不同文化背景的人交朋友并不容易。你会遇到讲了一个笑话无人理解的尴尬，询问关于不同文化的问题时的紧张感，被误解后的愤怒。然而，我们应该勇敢地突破自己的舒适区，运用智慧直面不信任和异议。一旦我们开始把人们当作独立的个体，并从他们多样的文化中学习，就一定能打开我们的视野并丰富我们的经历。
今天，我们会开启不同的旅程。有些同学会读研深造，有些同学会选择停下来，用一年的时间充实自己，或是在喜欢的公司工作也或是开展自己的生意业务。但我们不会忘记我们在温肯学到的东西，那就是勇敢地去尝试并接纳世界的多样性。
不管你选择哪条道路，都请努力奋斗，让自己成为温州肯恩大学的骄傲吧！最后，我想说对全体老师们说声谢谢，你们全心全意地奉献自己的时间来帮助成就了今天的我们。2021届温肯毕业生们，再次祝贺你们！让我们于此启航、走向世界！

Greetings, Class of 2021, family, friends, faculty and staff!
I am Yi Hu, a graduate from the College of Liberal Arts. Today, we gather here to celebrate one of the most important days of our lives. After long flights or hours on a train, our parents come here to share this special moment with us. Right now, my family is sitting somewhere watching their daughter stand here and talk in a language that they don’t understand. I feel, again, so honored and grateful for this opportunity that I can share my reflections with you all.
Over the past four years, many changes have taken place in this young and lively university. Apart from the General Education Hall, now we have CPBM building, the Athletics Center, Ge He Kai Hall, and most excitingly, the milk tea chain Chai Bai Dao opened. Finally, no need to order takeout and walk a long way to get it in such hot weather. Honestly, academic life sometimes sucks. We desperately need something sweet, don’t we?
Our university makes continuous progress as we do in academic performance and professional competence. For my talented classmates from the College of Liberal Arts, where are you, please raise your hands. And our brilliant future millionaires from the College of Business & Public Management, our creative artists from the College of Architecture & Design and our ‘always programming or doing math’ friends from the College of Science and Technology.
Four years in Wenzhou-Kean University changed me and there was one thing that I would hold dear to my heart: that is, to embrace bravery and inclusiveness.
When I was a freshman, Dr. Nikita Nankov asked me more than once, ‘have you decided your future path? Literature, linguistics, translation or other domains?’ At that time, I had no idea, thinking it was too early to make a decision. However, he told me, ‘try undauntedly while you are young, don’t be afraid of making mistakes’. Therefore, when I thought of translation, I volunteered to be an interpreter and attended interpreting contests; when I dreamed of working in an international organization, I visited the United National Headquarters in New York and registered for an internship. Bravery helped me remove uncertainty. I realized that youth is our greatest fortune, and we should be brave enough to explore any path that attracts us. By trial and error we can find a clear goal and make an effort to reach it.
WKU also teaches me the importance of inclusiveness. When I was an exchange student at Kean Union, an American classmate in the cross-cultural communication class once asked me, ‘Why do WKU exchange students only hang out with WKU students?’ This question was thought-provoking. Making friends from different backgrounds was not easy; the awkwardness of playing a joke that nobody understood, the nervousness of asking questions about other cultures, the anger of being misunderstood. However, we should be brave enough to break out of our comfort zone and have the guts and intellect to face mistrust and disagreements. Once we start to see people as individuals, and discard the stereotypes, we can positively move toward inclusiveness for everyone. Learning from diverse cultures has definitely opened our minds and enriched our experience.
Today we will set off with different paths. Go for postgraduate study or have a gap year, work in favored companies or start our own business. But we will never forget what we’ve learnt in WKU, be courageous to try and embrace the diversity of the world.
No matter which path you will take, work hard to be the pride of WKU. Finally, I would like to say thank you to all the faculty and staff who devoted your time to help make us who we are today. For the class of 2021, congratulations to all of you once again. Let’s start here and go anywhere!
