教育学院院长Sancha Gray博士赞誉TESOL学生在北京外国语大学温州附属学校的出色表现
近日，温州肯恩大学国际英语教学硕士专业（MATESOL）的学生们在北京外国语大学温州附属学校的实习受到了特别的关注和肯定。温州肯恩大学教育学院院长Sancha Gray博士亲临现场，为我们的学生点赞，并受邀为北外附属小学的学生们颁发证书和奖状。这是一项非常有意义的校校合作，展示了温肯与地方中小学的深刻联系和互动。

Agnes Tang教授分享了她多年来在教育领域的经验，她强调了跨学科教育的重要性：“将不同学科融合在一起可以激发学生的思维，帮助他们更好地理解世界。英语教学不仅仅是语言的教学，更是知识的教学。我们的TESOL学生在实习中成功地将这一理念付诸实践，为学生们带来了更富有深度的学习体验。我为TESOL的学生感到自豪。”

Dean Sancha Gray Visits TESOL Students during their Practicum at Wenzhou School Affiliated to BFSU
Last month, while conducting a 9-day English camp at Beijing Foreign Studies University Wenzhou Affiliated School, WKU’s MA TESOL students received a special visitor from Kean University U.S., Dr. Sancha Gray, Dean of the College of Education. Dean Gray applauded our students’ excellent work and presented certificates and awards to the students of the affiliated primary school. This initiative was highly meaningful, showcasing the partnership between Wenzhou-Kean and Wenzhou School Affiliated to BFSU.
Dean Sancha Gray’s presence brought immense inspiration and pride to our TESOL students who planned and taught thematic units, integrating subject matter teaching with English instruction. This instructional approach, also known as content-based instruction, is prevalent in the United States. Its effectiveness is well-documented especially for English learners in their simultaneous acquisition of subject matter knowledge and English language. Dean Gray was especially impressed by the passion and instructional abilities of the TESOL students.
One of the TESOL students, Hong Pan, said: “our internship at Wenzhou School Affiliated to BFSU, provided us with invaluable experiences, marking an important step in our careers. Through practical experience, we not only acquired more knowledge about English teaching but also gained precious hands-on experience, which will serve as the foundation for our future careers as an English teacher.”
Toward the end of the awards ceremony, Principal Xu of the affiliated school and Dr. Agnes Tang, Professor and Coordinator of the TESOL program, shared their educational philosophies and visions for the future.
Principal Xu emphasized the significance of education, stating, "Education is not only about transmitting knowledge but also shaping values. We aim to cultivate students' creativity and sense of social responsibility, making them the change-agents of our future society."
Professor Agnes Tang shared her years of experience in the field of education, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary studies in English education. She stated, "Integrating different disciplines can stimulate students' thinking and help them better understand the world. English Education is not just about teaching language but also the construction of new knowledge. Our TESOL students planned units that successfully integrated scientific knowledge with English learning, providing students with a rich learning experience. I am proud of our TESOL students."
The captivating speeches by these two leaders received enthusiastic applause from the parents in attendance. Their educational philosophies not only guided TESOL students but also set an example for the entire community.
