Welcome to WKU: Move-in Day Marks New Beginnings

Ouhai, Wenzhou: August 15 marked the Move-In Day for Wenzhou-Kean University’s Class of 2030. This year, WKU welcomed more than 1,400 undergraduate freshmen from 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Over 70 international students from countries including the United States, Italy, France, Russia, and Kazakhstan also arrived on campus, beginning their university journey.

Registration began at 8 a.m., with student and staff volunteers lining the walkways to assist with luggage, answer questions, and help every new student feel at home from day one.

In the afternoon, Chancellor Li Xiaonian visited the registration site to welcome the freshmen, encouraging them to make the most of WKU’s diverse and inclusive community, think independently, and pursue meaningful academic exploration.

Students from near and far arrived at WKU with their own aspirations and passions. Among them were twin brothers You Haoxiang and You Haozhe from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, who both enrolled in the Finance program. They plan to improve their English, get involved in student organizations, and support each other throughout their four years at WKU.

For many freshmen, the journey to WKU was also a step toward independence. Liu Bijia from Chongqing arrived alone with two suitcases and two packages, choosing to begin university independently. “I want to explore my interests and find my own path at WKU,” she said.
