About "FLTRP·ETIC Cup"
Organized by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and ETIC, the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” is recognized as China’s most competitive English debate championship. The competition follows the rigorous British Parliamentary (BP) debate format, one of the most widely used frameworks for academic debate worldwide. Beyond assessing knowledge and analytical prowess, the event encourages engagement with frontier topics, fostering global perspectives and a sense of responsibility among young intellectuals.
This year's national final featured eight rounds of debate. The motions covered a wide range of topics—from social issues like integrating educational content into bite‑sized media, the rise of the pet economy, parenting styles, and the philosophy of "strategic ignorance," to cultural and philosophical questions such as the narrative choices of creators from marginalized backgrounds and what a world without lies might look like. The motions also delved into rights protection and legal systems, including pharmaceutical patent applications and the use of vigilante justice by indigenous groups in ecological conservation.
