WKU Debate Team Makes History: 2nd Runner-Up at FLTRP·ETIC Cup East China Regional, Secures National Final Spot!
From April 5 to 6, the 27th “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition - East China Regional wrapped up with great success. In total, 114 teams from universities in Eastern China gathered for this event.
The competition, covering diverse topics like current affairs and social issues, challenged participants’ English skills and critical thinking. Facing elite competitors from top universities like Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Tongji University, and East China Normal University, our two WKU teams demonstrated exceptional English proficiency and stood out in the competition.
After 5 rounds of fierce competition, team Chen Yining & Xu Haibo made history by ranking 2nd out of 114 teams and advancing to the East Regional Final. They ultimately claimed the 2nd Runner-Up (Grand Prize) in the East Regional Final, setting a new best record for WKU in this regional event. They will now represent WKU to compete in the National Final in the coming June.
Another WKU team, consisting of Zhong Huiwei and Liu Chang, won the Silver Award in the competition, ranking 61st out of 114 teams.
Congratulations to both teams! We also wish team Chen Yining & Xu Haibo even greater success in the National Final.
