Students Won Third Prizes of the National English Debating Competition & National Interpreting Contest
WKU debaters WANG Yangcan and DAI Yuecong won the Third Prize in the 22nd “FLTRP CUP” National English Debating Competition, the largest and highest-level English contest in China. The Competition was held at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics from 6 – 10 June 2019.
This event attracted more than 100,000 debaters from more than 500 universities, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, China Foreign Affairs University, and so forth, to participate in campus selections, regional tournaments, and the final contest.

The 8th “LSCAT Cup” National Interpreting Contest (the Eastern China Tournament) was held at Nanjing Normal University on June 9. Impressing judges and audience with her professional performance, YANG Jialin stood out from more than 160 participants and won the Third Prize.
In the knockout stage of this regional tournament, participants were divided into 4 teams, and 9 students scoring highest from each team were promoted to the next stage. Finally, 10 students obtained the qualifications to the national final contest. The contest material was about global environmental issues covering climate change, forest degradation, land desertification, fresh water and food shortage, and so forth.
