2018 Global Lecture Series Autumn Week
In the past two weeks, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, together with well-known scholars at home and abroad, held a large-scale event of 2018 Global Lecture Series Autumn Week. The invited guests include: Dr. Vance N. Owens (Director/Professor of North Central Sun Grant Center at South Dakota State University), Mr. Nick Martin (Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment; Barrister-at-Law; former Cabinet Special Adviser for Rt. Hon Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister), Mr. Pan Zhongqiang (Chairman of the Wenzhou Social Science Association), and Dr. Walter Cannon (Professor Emeritus at Central College in Pella, Iowa). The four scholars respectively gave wonderful lectures on the five themes of bioenergy, corporate strategic management, British higher education, Wenzhou development model and Shakespeare literature to the students and faculty of Wenzhou-Kean University.
During the Autumn Week event, WKU faculty, staff, and students gained a lot, and had a deeper understanding and experience of all kinds of new concepts and knowledge mentioned on various topics. The new agriculture and new energy proposed by Dr. Vance, the business strategy and British education style mentioned by lawyer Mr. Nick, the Chairman Mr. Pan’s understanding of the local history of Wenzhou, and Professor Walter’s wonderful interpretation of Shakespeare and Hamlet, all of these benefited the participants to the lectures. In each lecture, faculty and students had an interactive question-type communication with the speaker on the questions they were interested in, which further deepened the knowledge points brought by the lecture.
