Green Guardianship Plan | Adopt Your Green Companion

March 11, 2025, the Wenzhou-Kean University Green Guardianship Plan: Adopt Your Green Companion is an engaging initiative designed to foster environmental stewardship within the WKU community, encouraging individuals and groups to "adopt" and care for a specific tree, garden plot, or area of campus; this hands-on approach aims to increase environmental awareness, promote sustainable practices, cultivate a sense of responsibility, and contribute to a more beautiful and ecologically sound campus environment through community engagement. This is the key element that makes the program unique and engaging. It suggests a personalized approach to environmental stewardship. The "Green Companion" could be:

• A specific tree or group of trees: Participants would be responsible for watering, mulching, and monitoring the health of their adopted tree(s).
• A garden plot or flower bed: Participants would plant, cultivate, and maintain a designated area.
• A section of campus grounds: Participants would be responsible for keeping the area clean, free of litter, and promoting sustainable landscaping practices.
