WKU Students Shine in the Han Suyin International Translation Contest
On October 16, the winners’ list of the 36th Han Suyin International Translation Contest was announced. Two WKU students won awards in this contest: YUAN Xinyi (recent graduate, International Finance Major) won the Second Prize in the E-C category; WU Yichen (Junior, International Finance Major) won the Excellent Award in the same category. This marks the first time our university students have won awards in this prestigious competition.
Co-hosted by the Translators Association of China (TAC), China Academy of Translation, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS) and domestic universities, the Han Suyin International Translation Contest stands as one of the highest-level and longest-established translation events in China. The participants include not only university faculty and students from across the country but also translators from government agencies and enterprises, freelancers, and other translation enthusiasts.
This year’s competition received a total of 30,864 translation entries, including 22,290 in the English category. After several months of rigorous evaluation and final discussions, a total of 1,230 winners were selected, including 21 First Prizes, 55 Second Prizes, 88 Third Prizes, and 1,066 Excellent Awards.
Congratulations to YUAN Xinyi and WU Yichen! We look forward to seeing more WKU students participate in this event in the future and achieve great results!
