Notice on the Campus Registration for the 29th "21st Century Cup" National English Speaking Competition

We are delighted to announce the campus selection for the 29th "21st Century Cup" National English Speaking Competition, scheduled for March 24th. Below are the essential details:

Competition Procedure

Registration: To participate, please complete the registration process on the official website of 21st Century English Speech here or through the WeChat official account "21Century Cup."

Join WeChat Group: Scan the QR code to join the competition’s WeChat group.

Submit Your Speech: Upload your speech script, not exceeding 500 words, to the official website or WeChat official account. The submission deadline is 11:00, March 19, 2024.

Participate in the Competition: The event will take place on March 24th. Further details will be announced in the WeChat group.

Competition Rules

The competition comprises two rounds, with no more than 50% of contestants advancing to the second round.

Round 1: 4-minute prepared speech & 1-minute Q&A. Speech topic: "The Revival of Traditional Culture."

Round 2: 2-minute impromptu speech & 2-minute Q&A. Contestants will receive impromptu speech topics twenty minutes before their performance.

Awards:

Finalists in the second round will receive awards and certificates according to the following distribution: grand prize (1); first prize (20%); second prize (30%); third prize (50%). Each participant will receive a gift from the ELC.

Notes

*The grand prize winner will advance to the regional final of the 21st Century English Speaking Competition in Zhejiang Province (May-June).

*Outstanding contestants or those showing promise will be invited to the WKU speech team.

*To enhance speech quality, contestants can schedule one-on-one coaching appointments or attend English speech workshops organized by the ELC.

Session 2: Delivering Your Speech & Essentials of Impromptu speaking, 14:30-15:45,Mar.14^th (Thur.)
