Zhang Zhenfeng, Deputy Secretary of Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor, met a delegation led by Lamont Repollet, President of Kean University on November 2, 2023.

Zhang Zhenfeng extended a warm welcome to Lamont O. Repollet and his delegation for their recurrent visit to Wenzhou again, expressing gratitude for the long-standing interest and support provided by Kean University to the development of Wenzhou-Kean University. He remarked that WKU, as a significant achievement of Sino-American educational cooperation, has continuously embarked on a journey of exploration and growth since its establishment. Since its inception to becoming a thriving institution, WKU has been harmonizing with the city’s economic and social development. It has now evolved into a vital component of higher education in Wenzhou, proudly showcasing the city’s internationalization.

Wenzhou-Kean University is currently in a phase of rapid development and is actively seizing significant opportunities. Deputy Secretary and Mayor Zhang hopes that WKU and KU would work together towards a path of “world-class and exemplary” education, collaborating to advance the high-quality development of academic disciplines, the cultivation of top-tier talents and the facilitation of high-level bilateral exchange, accelerating the establishment as a model of Sino-American cooperative education. The Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Government will, as always, support the construction and development of WKU to create conditions for providing world-class education.

Lamont O. Repollet expressed that his visit to Wenzhou aims to further strengthen communication and coordination, enhance mutual understanding, consolidate a close partnership and facilitate the accelerated and improved development of WKU. He hopes that the two universities can deepen their cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and scientific research to satisfy the needs of the future, the industry and businesses. Efforts will be made to embellish the educational structure and increase curriculum offerings, with the goal of nurturing more exemplary talents, truly establishing WKU as an engine for the development of the city of Wenzhou.
