——The 2019 Joint Conference on Social Networks, Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence
The 2019 Joint Conference on Social Networks, Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence took place at Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) today. This conference aimed to promote the communication of theoretical and practical applications of social networks, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence, and to drive the development of regional digital economy and related industries. Meanwhile, it aimed to attract international talents from relevant fields to work in Wenzhou, and promote WKU community’s international research cooperation in the field of social network and artificial intelligence.
The Joint Conference was hosted by Optics and Photonics Society of Singapore-China and Association for Social Networks and Social Networks Innovation Center, Taiwan, China, and organized by WKU. It was composed of two international conferences: MISNC 2019, the sixth Multidisciplinary International Social Networks Conference and PRAI 2019, International Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence 2019. The Joint Conference would last three days as scheduled.
Dr. George Chang, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences at Kean University, New Jersey, USA, also the Vice Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Joint Conference, said, “These two conferences are jointly held in China for the first time. MISNC has been held five times in different countries: 2014 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, 2015 in Matsuyama, Japan, 2016 in Kean University, New Jersey, USA, 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand, 2018 in Saint-Étienne, France; PRAI was held for the first time at Kean University, New Jersey, USA in 2018.”

Dr. Zheng Xiaodong expressed his sincere welcome to all the scholars, and gave a brief introduction of WKU. He said, “We are living now in the era of information technology, in which social network, big data and AI have provided superb advantages we could ever imagine.”
“It is my belief that the conferences this year will be faithful while we make our headway to embrace this era of information technology.”
Dr. Zheng Xiaodong ,Vice Chancellor of WKU
Dr. Eric Yang said, “WKU is proud of hosting this international conference. “This conference provides a valuable platform for sharing research findings on social network and artificial intelligence, and promoting collaboration and exchange.”
Dr. Eric Yang , Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of WKU
The keynote speech titled “Research Trends in Social Networking” was given by Dr. Ting Peng Liang, Director of the Intelligent Electronic Commerce Research Center of National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan and the immediate past president of the Association for Information Systems. As a guest, Dr. Ting Peng Liang showed that the Wenzhou city and WKU were very impressive. He also said, “Social networks are closely related to our daily lives. People use WeChat and Weibo everyday. Without the analysis of social networks, enterprises and governments can’t make policy and investment decisions. For example, the micro business marketing on WeChat now is the application of social networks. The joint meeting will present a number of results reports related to these analyses and studies. The trend of in-depth research through phenomena will provide us with countless thoughts.”

Dr. George Chang agreed Dr. Liang’s view. He cited an example, “Almost all of us use Taobao. Now when everyone open Taobao and find out that it often pushes a lot of products to you, which are usually what you like or even what you are going to buy. Why does it aim so precisely? Because it analyzes your social network, such as your Taobao friends, or it analyzes your daily shopping habits, and finally it draws a big data about your preferences, then ultimately this data helps the product to sell.”
In the next two days, scholars will also discuss the topic about AI, visualization of health Data, augmented reality as a reinforcement to facilitate ESP learning for Nursing Students, etc.
