Wenzhou-Kean University Welcomes New Cohort of Undergraduates


 

On August 16, Wenzhou-Kean University(WKU) welcomed more than 1,200 new undergraduates as they officially begin an exciting new chapter of their lives. The freshmen in the 2025 cohort come from 24 provinces, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, in addition to countries such as the United States, Australia, Russia, South Africa, and Thailand.

Dedicated staff members are heloing freshmen transport their luggage.

 

This year, WKU streamlined the registration process. Students completed online registration in advance, allowing them to quickly check in by scanning a QR code upon arrival and receive their campus cards before moving into their accommodations. To ensure a smooth transition for students, the university arranged 14 shuttle buses at the local airport and train stations.

Wen Lingjie, a new student from Shanghai, was escorted by three generations of her family to register at the university.

 

The entire WKU community stood with them and supported the freshmen every step on the way. University leaders, including Pan Jianzhong, Cary Anderson, and Yan Xiaopeng, were on also site to welcome incoming students.

University leaders paid a visit to the new students and exchanged greetings with them.

 

Several freshmen shared their reasons for choosing the university. Mikhailova Anastasiia from Russia expressed her desire to gain a deeper understanding of both Chinese and American cultures.

Max Lin is an American-born Chinese freshman at WKU.

 

Max Lin, an American-born Chinese freshman, is passionate about business and foreign trade. Citing Wenzhou’s dynamic private economy as a major appeal, he aims to gain inspiration and strength from the education at WKU and pursues his career in China. Xu Heyang a high-scoring student admitted from Tianjin was attracted by the university’s international faculty and campus environment. To adapt to the all-English teaching environment as soon as possible, he picked up his books and started studying English right after settling into his dormitory.

Secretary Pan Jianzhong had a cordial conversation with Xu Heyang, a freshman from Tianjin.

 

Rich experiences were also offered to help freshmen intergrate into WKU life. In the following days, they will participate in PIEP, orientation day, commencement ceremony, and newcomers commencing education to familiarize the one-of-a-kind China-US university life.
