Two Silver Awards! WKUers Stood out in “FLTRP ETIC Cup””Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students (English Public Speaking, Zhejiang Provincial Contest)
The inaugural “FLTRP ETIC Cup””Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students (English Public Speaking) concluded successfully at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou from November 4th to 5th, 2023. The event drew 167 contestants from 57 higher education institutions across the province. Among them were four representatives from WKU, with two contestants—Liu Yanxi majoring in Communication and Li Hairuo majoring in English—earning the distinction of receiving silver awards.
The competition comprised two rounds: the first round included prepared speeches and Q&A sessions, while the second round focused on impromptu speeches and further questioning. The four participants from our university exhibited remarkable eloquence and confidence on stage, embodying the poised spirit of WKU students. Post-competition, these individuals found the live speech contest highly appealing, motivating them to participate in future events and network with skilled speakers.
Special thanks to Abbigail Ajim, a faculty member from the Communication Department, for her invaluable guidance and mentorship before the competition.
