WKU welcomed over 1000 freshmen in Fall 2022
13 August: The Class of 2026, which includes more than 1000 freshmen in total, arrived on the WKU campus. Those students will become members of the big WKU community after the official registration. University leaders welcomed the new cohort of freshmen and sent their best wishes for their subsequent university life.
The students come from 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as countries such as the Netherlands, Indonesia and the Philippines. To be better oriented in an all-English teaching environment, the freshmen will embark on the new semester two weeks earlier than other students to participate in Pre-University Intensive English Program (PIEP).
To their convenience, several shuttle buses, guided by volunteers, have been allocated to pick up students at Wenzhou South Railway Station and Wenzhou Airport. Travel and health codes, temperature checks, as well as nucleic acid test reports within 48 hours are preventative measures to ensure safety for all. WKU always gives overriding priority to the health and safety of students. In advance of their arrival, students’ health information has been collected. Pandemic prevention schemes have been set and drilled many times. In front of the school gate, students will go through a series of procedures in an orderly manner. Their carry-on luggage is also required to be sanitized.
Since parents are not allowed to enter the campus this year, the university has designed parent and family orientation via live broadcast to share study and personal development at WKU. The workshop also gave important information about student one-stop service, student conduct expectations and mental health resources provided by the university, which familiarize parents with the one-of-a-kind life on campus.
Worth mentioning, the registration day also marked the birthday of eight freshmen. University leaders, guided by WKU’s Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors Wang Beijiao, visited those students’ dormitories and sent them best wishes for the upcoming university life. Cakes and gifts were also given to the new students to celebrate their first birthday in Wenzhou.
On August 14, the first-year students participated in orientation day as scheduled and soon began their university life at WKU. Congratulations again on joining the WKU community. Please enjoy the life-changing and rewarding four years at WKU!
