Student Government Class Representative Public Speaking 2015 Fall
Student Government Class Representative Public Speaking 2015 Fall
On October 12th, 2015, Student Government held the Class Representative Candidate Public Speaking in WKU auditorium. Many students attended this event to listen to candidates’ speeches and cheered for the candidates. This year, we have 11 freshmen candidates competing for 4 seats of Freshman Class Representative and 2 candidates from senior class who wants to be Senior Class Representative. Freshmen will log in the voting system after the public speaking to cast their votes to whom they think are qualified to represent their rights and interests in the future. The whole voting process is monitored by Student Affairs Office.
During the Public Speaking, Class Representative Candidates introduced themselves to students and stated their understanding about Student Council, as well as their expectation. From candidates’ perspective, Student Council can bridge the gap between students and school administrations. It represents and secures students’ reasonable rights and interests by listening, communicating, and balancing interests between administrations and students. Besides, candidates expressed their expectation of creating a more open and more efficient Student Council.
The second part of candidates’ speeches is to illustrate one student concern then coming up with their solution to solve the problem. The student concerns candidates found varied from academic area to daily life. Solving problems is their strength too. Candidates presented their solutions by in-depth analysis and data, which won huge applause from audiences.
Through this Class Representative Candidates Public Speaking, Student Government wants to offer a platform where students can have a deeper understanding of their future representatives and help them decide who they will vote for. The voting period is from Oct.12th 23:00 to Oct. 14th 23:00.
