Notice on the Celebration of Wenzhou-Kean University’s 10th Year in Operation

November 16th, 2021 marks Wenzhou-Kean University’s 10th year in operation. Standing at this historical moment, we look back on the past and forward to the future. We want to pay high tribute and extend sincere greetings to leadership at all levels, friends from all walks of life, and alumni home and abroad! Thank you for your commitment and support to WKU! We cordially invite you to join us in the grand celebrations.

Riding on the tides of innovation and the opening up initiatives, WKU has harvested fruitful achievements. Fifteen years ago, witnessed by Mr. Xi Jinping, Wenzhou University and Kean University jointly signed the agreement of founding Wenzhou-Kean University. After five years of planning, Wenzhou-Kean University received the approval of preparation for establishment in November 2011. The University was accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in 2013. A year later, Wenzhou-Kean University was officially approved to be established and has been the only China-U.S. cooperative university in Zhejiang Province since then. In 2018, Wenzhou-Kean University successfully passed the bachelor’s degree accreditation. In the same year, the University was listed as a demonstrative Sino-foreign cooperative project for international and high-level development during the Ministry-Province Consultation Conference. WKU’s graduate education started in 2019. WKU has taken the lead and has been exploring its way towards internationalization and high-level development. The journey is never easy, but WKU will keep moving forward.

Over the past ten years, we have forged ahead against all odds. With an increasing number of academic programs and expansion of scale, the University is becoming stronger and is now a famous national Sino-foreign cooperative university. Dedicating to the principle of “providing students with different ways of development”, WKU prepares students to think critically, creatively and globally, and cultivates them to become talents that will serve the country. We seek common ground while reserving differences, forge ahead in an innovative and enterprising spirit, and closely connect our development with the nation’s future and humanity’s destiny. Today, WKU is standing at a new starting point and moving toward building a world-class education institution.

Never forget why you started, and you can accomplish your mission. Living in the new era, we will remain true to our original mission under the waves of education reform and opening-up, and shoulder the responsibility of cultivating talents for the nation. We continue to strive for excellence and write a wonderful chapter of Zhejiang’s “important showcase” construction.

This November, we will hold a series of events to celebrate the 10th year in operation. We warmly invite all alumni and friends from all walks of life to join in this event and promote the University’s development.
